How to get a massage:

Step One

Don't eat a large meal to close to the time of your massage.  If you are hungry go ahead and have a small snack but you might be a bit uncomfortable if you've just finished off a 3 course meal.

Step Two

Relax before your massage. Give yourself plenty of time to get to your massage appointment.  If you've got to rush from your house to your appointment you are going to be frazzled before you even arrive!  And find out if you should arrive a few minutes early to fill out paperwork.  And if you are going to be late just call me.  I usually schedule a few extra minutes in between my clients because sometimes life just happens.

Step Three

Wear clothing that you can get out of easily and you can easily put back on. If you plan to keep your clothes on, wear something like loose shorts and a jog bra for a woman or boxers for a man; these options will be easy for me to work around.  Most people find they are comfortable wearing only their underpants since they will be draped with a sheet during their massage.  I've gotten massages for years now and I still won't take my underwear off.

Step Four

Be Honest!  Tell me if you have any health concerns or have had any injuries or illnesses.

Step Five

Let me know if there is any area where you do not wish to be touched, or if there is an area where you would like special work done.

Step Six

Clear your thoughts. A massage is a time to relax, not to worry about the interview tomorrow or your car payments.  And turn your cell phone off!  If the world is going to stop when your not paying attention, then let it stop!

Step Seven

Breathe normally. Don't hold your breath if a sensitive spot is being worked on.  Let me know if you are uncomfortable or in pain.

Step Eight

Try not to contract your muscles. Your body needs to be relaxed and flexible to get the best results. Imagine you are a rag doll.
And let me do my job.  If feels so much better when your not helping me!

Step Nine

Report any discomfort or problems during the massage. Let me know if you feel any pain, are cold, don't like the music, want to talk or don't want to talk, etc. This is your massage and I understand that and I want this to be the best experience possible for you!

Step Ten

Rise slowly after the massage is over. Get off the table gradually. Take your time, and try to maintain your state of relaxation.

Step Eleven

Avoid driving if you are feeling spaced out or lightheaded. Wait a few minutes to get grounded.

Of course I hope you've already called and made that appointment!
